The month of November began the yearlong celebration of St. Elizabeth 100th Anniversary. Bishop Knestout presided at the Centennial Kickoff Mass on November 20. Three former pastors concelebrated along with Fr. Jim Arsenault. Sr. Cora Marie Billings, RSM, pastoral coordinator 1990-2004, welcomed the full-house congregation and read a letter from the Bishop to St. Elizabeth parish. The Mass was livestreamed on St. Elizabeth's Facebook account, and a luncheon reception was held afterwards.
The motto and logo for the Centennial is Beacon of Hope, designed by parishioner Larry Williford. The Centennial year includes monthly events beginning with Beacon of Hope Silent Auction. Parishioners and local businesses donated services, gift cards, art, food and more. The online auction was open for bidding through November.
In celebration of Black Catholic History Month, a documentary film was shown after Mass on November 6. "A Place at the Table: African Americans on the Road to Sainthood" shares the stories of holy men and women of color in the process of elevation to sainthood.
The Social Ministry/Parish Outreach provided 31 families with Thanksgiving baskets, including 10 from Our Lady of Lourdes. Families were also given fresh fruits and food from St. Elizabeth and OLL Food Pantries.
