St. Michael’s began its Haiti Twinning Ministry in 2003 with our mind, heart and soul focused on Relationships, Respect and Responsibility. Other groups travel to Haiti for service projects and mission trips and come home feeling good and even spiritually enlightened.
We travel to Haiti on pilgrimages to build relationships with the people of Dos Palais. That relationship has a much deeper impact on us and the people of the village. The bond that’s created is based on love and respect for one another and not just charitable service.

Carnival with Youth of Jesus in Dos Palais
Leading up to Lent, St. Jean Baptiste in Dos Palais celebrated a spiritual and uplifting retreat for 800 youth and chaperones from 46 parishes around the dioceses of Hinche between February 25th and March 1st, 2022. You can imagine the logistics of pulling this off in such a small village, but Fr. Nova and his committee were able to feed, house, and provide a bathing location for everyone.
The event was called "Carnival with Youth of Jesus." It was filled with many discussions, and activities for their youth and they had a blast! The Bishope of Hinche, Fr. Desinord Jean, was amongst the many speakers that attended. The five days concluded with an exciting parade down the one small street of Dos Palais to celebrate the "Carnival with the Youth of Jesus." Everyone in the village attended and loved this one grand moment.
