The Prayer Shawl Ministry continues to make Soap Sacks for the homeless, baby blankets for the East End Pregnancy Center, Prayer Squares for baptisms, funerals, weddings, etc., but their primary mission is to create Prayer Shawls to gift to others at various points in their lives! The group has now created 96 cotton (cotton only!) soap sacks, each filled with a bar of soap. This is over half of their 160-sack goal, which they hope to meet by December so that they can donate the sacks to homeless individuals in the Richmond area. Here's one example of a completed sack!
The Prayer Shawl ministry has also been bringing shawls to communal anointings to be blessed and shared. The next Communal Anointing has been scheduled to take place in the Day Chapel on Sunday, September 17th, immediately after the 11:15am liturgy.
The need is great, so please keep stitching!
