Ministry to the Sick
Henrico Doctors Hospital - Parham Campus

St. Michael's ministry at the Parham Road Campus of Henrico Doctors Hospital assures that Communion available to all Catholic patients hospitalized there. Our goal is to make it possible for each hospitalized Catholic to receive communion at least once a week, more often if sufficient Ministers of Communion to the sick are available.

To assure continuity of pastoral care, our ministers leave each patient with a "St. Michael business card" bearing the minister's name and phone number. Ministers to the sick at HDP will continue to take Communion to patients subsequent to their release during their convalescence if they are not parishioners of St. Michael. Those patients who are members of St. Michael and wish to receive Communion during their convalescence are turned over to our Ministry to the Homebound for ongoing pastoral care.

Russ Wisler is the coordinator of our ministry at Henrico Doctors Hospital - Parham Campus. Russ can be reached by phone at 804-883-0171 or by email at rwisler@embarqmail.com. If you have an interest in becoming involved in this ministry, please contact Russ.

Training will be provided by Russ, in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator at the hospital.

A diocesan background check is required for all ministers to the sick.
