St. Michael Pastoral Care
Ministry to Crump Manor Nursing Home
St. Michael's Ministry at Crump Manor touches many aspects of the lives of the women and men who reside there.
As is the case with all of our Pastoral Care ministries, the spiritual side of people's lives is our primary focus. On the second and fourth weekends of the month two ministers of the Eucharist bring Communion to the members of the Catholic community at Crump Manor. In addition, Communion services on the first and third Thursdays of the month and quarterly Masses are available to Crump Manor residents.
Our Crump Manor team also provides recreational and social opportunities which are open to all residents. Bingo, which includes small cash and other types of prizes, is very popular.
Our Crump team hosts a Christmas party for all the residents. Our choir provides carols and an opportunity for the residents to sing along, and snacks are provided that are appropriate for the dietary requirements of all residents. Each of our guests, in the spirit of the season, receives two or three gifts.
This year Jim Wright, the coordinator of our ministry at Crump Manor, is exploring the idea of adding two additional seasonal parties to our ministry there. Easter and All Saints Day are actively under consideration.
Crump Manor is a wonderful ministry and our team is always in need of volunteers. Additional bingo helpers, those willing to work on the organization of seasonal parties and ministers of Communion to the sick are always welcome.
Jim Wright provides new volunteers with a short training session on the protocols for volunteering at Crump Manor with a special focus on the Eucharistic ministry. You can contact Jim by phone at 804-266-2312 or by email at mijnor@aol.com.
A diocesan background check is required for all ministers of Communion to the sick.
