Henrico Doctors' Hospital - Parham Campus
St. Michael’s ministry at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital - Parham assures that Communion is available to all Catholic patients hospitalized there. Our goal is to make it possible for each hospitalized Catholic to receive Communion at least once a week, more often if enough extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion to the sick are available to administer them.
To assure continuity of pastoral care, our volunteers leave a “St. Michael business card,” which bears the volunteer’s name and phone number, with each patient upon their visit. Subsequent to their release and during their convalescence, patients who are not St. Michael parishioners continue to receive Communion from ministry volunteers. Those patients who are St. Michael parishioners who wish to receive Communion during their convalescence are referred to our Homebound Ministry for ongoing pastoral care.
If you are interested in becoming involved with this ministry, please contact Russ Wisler, Coordinator, at 883-0171 or email@example.com.
Russ provides the volunteer training, in conjunction with the hospital’s Volunteer Coordinator.
A diocesan background check is required for all extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion to the sick.
