Crump /Elizabeth HouseCrump Manor Nursing Home and Elizabeth House Assisted Living Home
Both located at 3590 Mountain Road in Glen Allen
Our Ministry at both facilities touches many aspects of the lives of the women and men who reside there.
As is the case with all of St. Michael's Pastoral Care ministries, the spiritual side of people's lives is our primary focus. Each weekend of the month, two ministers of the Eucharist bring Communion to the members of the Catholic community at Crump Manor and Elizabeth House. In addition, Communion services are held on the first and third Thursdays of the month, and quarterly Masses are available to residents of both homes.
Our Pastoral Care team also provides recreational and social opportunities, all of which are open to all residents. Bingo, which includes small cash and other types of prizes, is very popular. A monthly tea party is held at Elizabeth House for all residents and has become a treat for those who attend.
We host a Christmas party each year for all the residents. Our choir provides carols and an opportunity for the residents to sing along. Snacks that are provided meet the dietary requirements of all residents. Each of our guests, in the spirit of the season, receives two or three gifts.
This year Pauline and Arthur Casavant, our new Crump Manor and Elizabeth House Coordinators, are exploring the idea of starting additional seasonal parties.
Pastoral Care is a wonderful ministry. Our team is always in need of volunteers—ministers of Communion to the sick, bingo helpers, and those willing to work on the organization of seasonal parties.
We provide new volunteers with a short training session on the protocols for volunteering at Crump Manor and at Elizabeth House, with a special focus on the Eucharistic ministry. You may contact Pauline and Art at 804-337-0459 or at bewisest@verizon.net.
A diocesan background check is required for all ministers of the Eucharist to the sick.
