URGENT NEED for more volunteers. Help hand out bags and collect for at the Mass you are already attending. Can you help just one month
out of the year? Thank you!
Food Drives are the 2nd weekend of each month (excluding Easter) it supports Our Lady of Lourdes Food Pantry and Catholic Charities. This is a great ministry for families. Hand out grocery bags after the Mass you attend. Bags are returned the following weekend.
Help is also needed to bring the food to OLOL’s the Monday after so it can be distributed to those in need.
Clothing Drive is an annual event held in March. Clothes are distributed to OLOL clothes closet and to Hilltop Promises Thrift Store. We also help distribute clothing that is available after the Haiti Rummage Sale in September.
Please contact Donna or Greg for more information on how you can help with this small time commitment ministry.

Thank you to the entire St. Michael's community for your continued support of our monthly food drives! Your generosity has made a difference to people in need all over Richmond. Joan DuFour, Human Concerns Coordinator at Our Lady of Lourdes who oversees the food pantry there, has been overwhelmed by your abundant support of their many needs. Do you know who your efforts benefit?
There are 56 families served by the OLL food pantry per month. They serve seniors, families with children and those on disability, and try to have groceries packed ahead for emergency situations. Referrals come to OLL from Henrico County Department of Social Service and from Refugee and Immigrant Services. They serve all of the zip code of 23228, and some of 23227, 23059, 23060 and 23294.
Joan shared the following comments on how you made a difference last Fall:
"Over the Summer and into the Fall our shelves were nearly bare. We made a decision to decrease the number of families we were serving from 56 to 40 so we could continue to provide enough food amd nutritional meals along with canned fruit and cereal. In November, due to the generosity of you, the parishioners of St. Michaels, we were able to fill our shelves and once again provide groceries to 56 families a month in addition to the emergency cases!
We thank you for your generous contributions to the food pantry. We do not participate in the Food Bank. The pantry is run entirely by volunteers and the donations from Lourdes and St. Michaels. I want you to know that those who receive this blessing are very grateful and sincerely appreciate your heartfelt kindness. God bless you and many thanks."
We always welcome volunteers to help us hand out bags after masses the first weekend of the month, and accept donations in the trailer the second weekend. Community service hours! For more information or to volunteer, contact Donna Sisson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
