Volunteers are urgently needed.
Volunteers join the ladies of Virginia Correction Center for Women (a low security prison for non-violent women) on Route 6 in Goochland County, on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00AM for Eucharist. Faith formation classes are taught each week in joint cooperation with St. Mary’s to help the women prepare to come into the Catholic Church at Eastertide. They come into the Church the Saturday of Easter with an Easter Vigil at 9:00. A condensed version of Holy Thursday and Good Friday services are celebrated the Wednesday of Holy Week.
We also donate to the Kate’s Foundation, in Memory of Bea Monihan, who helped start this ministry at St. Michael. The donations helps provide scholarships.
There is always a need Religious items, toiletries, note cards and writing paper which can be dropped off by the church office. Please mark them Prison Ministry.
Contact Peggy or Paul for more information on volunteering.
