First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation
First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Help the children preparing for First Communion to "fill the house"! As a service project for our children preparing for First Holy Communion, we will be conducting a drive for ACTS (Area Congregations Together In Service), who provides assistance to people in our community who are on the brink of homelessness. We are inviting the parish to help us fill the house! Please bring full-size containers of any of the items listed below (items not covered by SNAP benefits) to Mass on May 2 & 3. The blue ACTS house will be in the Commons, beside the Parish Hall from April 29 -May 7. ·
Soap/Hand sanitizer · Shampoo · Toothpaste/Toothbrushes (adult/child) · Hand & Body lotion · Deodorant · Feminine products · Toilet paper/Tissues · Paper towels · Dish detergent/Laundry detergent · Sponges/Household cleaners · Dishwasher detergent · Diapers/Wipes · Bus Passes - $5 and $10 · Stamps/Pens/Envelopes
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a joint process for third graders and their parents. We are using Our Sunday Visitor's "Call to Celebrate - Reconciliation and Eucharist" which recognizes and builds on the fact that the primary people to prepare children for these sacraments should be their parents. Children will participate in classroom based learning with a catechist as well as home based learning with their families. In order to be eligible for sacrament preparation, the children must be enrolled in a regular faith formation option (classroom, home school or FIRE program). Sacrament preparation is IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM. Each sacrament will require parents to attend an initial orientation gathering with their child where they will be introduced to the curriculum and the preparation process.
If your child is eligible, you can enroll them for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion preparation on the regular Faith Formation Registration Form.
Classes are being offered at the following times:
- Wednesday 6:00-7:15pm (Jan and April/May)
- Thursday 4:15-5:30pm (Jan and April/May)
