He was born on May 31, 1957 in Wyandotte, MI and grew up in metro Detroit attending Catholic grade and high school. Following high school graduation, he attended Sacred Heart Seminary College in Detroit, earning degrees in history, philosophy and later a Master of Divinity at St. John's Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, MI. He also taught high school for three years in Harper Woods, MI.
On May 13, 1989 he was ordained a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Richmond. He has been involved as a leader in the L'Arche Daybreak Community for persons with severe disabilities, Richmond Hill, Ontario Biblical Studies at the International Institute in Tantur, Israel. He located and helped negotiate the purchase of 42 acres for the Poor Clare's monastery in Barhamsville, VA and established a community outreach center and preschool in West Point, VA. He was an active member of the VA Tech Strategic Notification Team throughout the April 16th tragedy at VA Tech. He was Deacon at St. Augustine's in Richmond, Parochial Vicar at St. Bridget in Richmond, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Newport News, Pastor of Our Lady of the Blessed and St. Mary in Blacksburg where he helped build a new church and parish center.
He is happy to be here at St. Michael where he started in July 2010 and is shared with St. Mary Catholic Church where he resides.
