Have you ever been asked to say a little about yourself? Certainly no easy feat for most people. I wonder:
Do I tell you that I was born in Germany and have lived in Georgia, Massachusetts and Virginia because my father was in the Military? Or maybe the fact that I have three sisters, one brother and 12 ½ nieces and nephews would be of more interest. The stress of not getting married to my husband until I was 40 and not having my son until I was 42 is certainly of no interest to you; although knowing that I met my husband on-line might raise an eyebrow or two.
Would you care that I did my undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech and then completed my graduate studies at Boston College? Probably not, until the two teams played against each other. You might be impressed to learn that I am following in the ministry footsteps of my mother, who is a Minister of Religious Education in a parish in Prince George.
Would you question my sanity if I told you that I absolutely love young people and the breath of fresh air they bring to the church? Or would you call the men in white coats if I told you I have been working with young people for 20+ years? Since getting the men in white coats might be a real possibility I'll just tell you that…
