Originally from Luray, VA, I've been a valley boy all my life. Raised as a United Methodist in a small one room church in Rileyville. In 1982 I moved to Blacksburg for 12 years and received a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management from Virginia Tech (GO HOKIES!!) I was confirmed Catholic in 1994 at St. Mary's in Blacksburg. Since then I have also worked on a B.S. in Public Relations and received a B.S. from Bluefield College in Human Resource Management (I like to tell people I have more B.S. than anyone!!) My partner Will and I moved to Gum Spring (Goochland/Louisa..no one really knows which county we're in) in 1995 and joined St. Michael's in 1997/98.
I am a Certified Wildlife Biologist for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and Manager of the Department's Watchable Wildlife Program. Will is an electrician and often works around the Church, while I take care of the plants in the Worship Space. We both help with RCIA, the Recycling Ministry, goose control around the pond, the Haiti Yard Sale, and any other stray projects as they arise. We are also both in the Knights of Columbus. In 2006 we started We Are Family-St. Michael's Ministry to Gay & Lesbian Catholics, Their Friends and Family. We have four dogs, two cats, nine fish (at last count) and a yard full of birdfeeders.
